WOYWW 802

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Sarah's Craftshed and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

Beautiful birthday flowers from my daughter for tomorrow.

The natural rock pigments I bought on holiday are proving to be the worst buy ever!   I mixed the powder with the Gum Arabic and honey - a lot of stirring.  A couple of colours just did not want mix, phthalo green was the worst one.  The tiniest bit of powder stains and it seemed to jump out the pot of its own accord!  The mixing took me the best part of two days.   I thought I would try various brushes and brush strokes also I wasn’t sure how much water to use.  All of these were on dry paper, so next stage is wet on wet.  At one point I got a little frustrated and added some Liquitex, which is the darkest shade above.

I visited my niece yesterday, she is expecting her second baby in February, such exciting news!

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Angela, hope you have a lovely day! You have way more patience than I’d have with those mineral paints, they’d have been out the window with me. But the colours you achieved are really fab so good on you!

I must say the rock pigments sound interesting but I would not have the patience - I discovered long ago that I'm happy to skip the whole palaver of dying and weaving yarn and fabric and get straight to using it! I guess the mineral paints would come into that category for me too! However I love that beautiful Jade green colour, it must give you a great sense of satisfaction to achieve lovely colours like that. Happy Birthday for tomorrow, hope you have a great day,

Happy birthday for tomorrow….all the best folk were born in October 😜. Well done you for persevering with the pigments…I’m not sure I would have the patience.

I read this as the flowers were for your daughter - where is my head these days? Happy Birthday for the morning.
Sorry the pigments didn't work - you need to chat to Diana as I am sure she mixes her own pigments. Maybe she could help.
Enjoy tomorrow

Happy birthday Angela. Love the look of those colours but not sure I would have got that far with them. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

Happy birthday Angela. I hope you have a lovely day. So annoying about those pigments not mixing well. It makes me think of A. Gallo’s video where they’re shown grinding and grinding the paints.
