WOYWW 779

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

There are several free challenges going on in May.  I sign up for everything that I think I may be interested in, some end up not being my cup of tea, some I miss out on because they are on zoom and the wrong time zone.   I have been doing an inchies one.   I wanted to use up some distress pens that I have had for ages.  The size of the card I had was just over two inches square, but the circles are two inches.

I am also doing the Get Messy challenge.  The first prompt was “Prologue”. Introduce yourself to your journal!  I had a go at a couple of quick self portraits. I said to me daughter “Nobody would recognise from these”.  She said, yes they would, they were younger versions of me!  I ended up using an outline of me in the page.

I also joined up for the Art and Junk Journal Retreat.  I have watched a few of those.  To be honest, I don’t have much energy at the moment.  Yesterday’s inchie prompt was “Inky”, I used the distress pens on gessoed paper first, sprayed it and pressed the card into it.  Then I used them on an acrylic block, the results were mixed and I was limited in the colours I had.  The card got quite soggy so perhaps a different card is needed or perhaps I used too much water!

Fun post...I do enjoy working on "Tiny" challenges. Loving the 3 photos you shared of yours. Great colors and designs. Are you instagram? I wanted to do the top one but no time this week. I'll do it on my own as I did get the circle stencil..Lots of sizes and I like ATC's COINs...Happy WOYWW

A lot going on this week Angela! I can't sign up for too many things because I know I will never get them done. Panicking 'cos I know I've signed up for 2 things but not sure when they are needed for - the month seemed a lot longer a week ago! Good to have a play. Have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #11

Sorry I'm a bit late been doing a bit of gardening while the weather's nice. Sometimes it's just good to play with techniques and don't think about how you might use them. I have learnt over the years that worrying too much about how I will use stuff stunts the imagination and slows down the progress. A Get Messy challenge sounds brilliant. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs Angela x12x

I love your tiny paintings. No I’m not planning to throw ink at my hare but to dip twig ends into ink and draw with them. I’m just being cautious.
Take care and happy WOYWW

I think it's great to have things that don't work sometimes so at least you can discount them or tweak what you did etc. I was going to sign up or Messy May but the introduce yourself bit put me off! Enjoy the sunshine, Lisa-Jane #10 www.prettymypage.co.uk

Tiny challenges are such fun Angela. If they don't work out then there isn't much card wasted. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

You have a lot going on - enJOY it!
And thank you for the reminder of "inchies." Sometimes I forget about the simplest of creative inspirations!

These tiny challenges look brilliant! I am always on catch up watch craft tutorials and love your inky inchie cards. They are so useful for projects to build on and find it really interesting to read everyone's process of creating as it's inspiring too.
Thanks so much for your comments. I don't use a laser printer, I have an Epson EcoTank Ink printer. Mine doesn't like any card above 200gsm and I don't buy expensive card either.I use A4 White colour document Navigator Printer Paper 120gsm 250 sheets for printing digi images and for toppers I use smooth card from Hobbycraft which ks a little thicker. I also leave them for a few days to dry out,if I am going to use them for mixed media and add matte medium/clear gesso/mod podge on top of the papers. It just lessens the possibility of the colour bleeding and spoiling your project.
As for those images that you mentioned, try searching 'photos' as they are not all in albums and a lot are shared daily. You may have to scroll back a bit, but you will notice a lot more. I hope all that helps a bit.
A journal retreat sounds like a great idea. I've always fancied going to one but they are always too far away for me. have a great weekend Michelle #2

Oh my life, 3rd freebie course started today, as if I wasn’t having enough trouble, at least it has got cooler and I can think again, been really struggling this past week even had to leave church early as I couldn’t cope…
Great start to the Messy May challenge, it sounds like they will be available to us for ever so you don't need to fret about doing them on time and just do them when you can. Nest Fest on the other hand is just 24hrs!! but quite frankly nothing much new for me really and supplies are mainly American so not a great help for us in the UK. Encounter in Colour will be available till the end of May so a couple of weeks extra for those. I spent hours following and doing the first one today, bedroom bomb site is all I can say. Hugs BJ#5
