WOYWW 781

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

I have been doing a free course called Encounters in Colour.  These are from the first session:

These are from another session.   Collage backgrounds were made first, I don't normally use flowery scraps for background collages, but in this instant the collage was meant to be seen in the bird shape.  So I was quite happy to use up a lot of flowery bits.  Bird stencils were a free gift, but not having my printer I had to make my own. A single colour was used to paint over the bird stencil and when dry the page decorated.  I used metallic pens with the left one and a white posca and a blue sharpie on the right one.

Still several sessions to catch up on and the Messy May sessions too.

We went to Appleby last week and saw a shop that sells Rock pigments.  the chap said if we had half and hour he would show us how the pigments were made.  It was really interesting and I came away with several small containers of pigment powder and some Gum Arabic.  I need to buy some small containers to keep the mixed paint in so hoping we will come across something suitable.

Looking forward to visiting everyone.

Love your collage pieces - having dabbled in it myself recently I have a new appreciation of how it’s not easy to get a good result. I think the perception that it’s just cutting and sticking is wrong, it’s so much more than that! Seeing the pigment made must have been interesting, I’ll remember that for next time we’re up North.

Super EIC pages, love your bird shape, I was looking for better ones than the ones that were provided too. Gorgeous dove pages loving all the colours. Wow pigment to made your own paints how fabulous. Hugs BJ#3

Your bird in the first two pages remind me of a stamp I once borrowed - can't think of the company but the lady who runs it is called Lynette.
Lavinia have some tiny pots in a tray which sound as if they would be ideal for mixing your paints in. Pixie Pots I think they are called.
Nice work as always Angela. Pity you weren't at the Crop.

Your collages are really lovely as was the day on Saturday at the crop. After the funeral on Friday it was so lovely to spend a day surrounded by special friends on Saturday.

How fascinating learning all about pigments and getting to make your own. The collages are lovely - I am impressed at how your white pen shows up so well on the black - something I have continual trouble with despite trying nearly all the pens I see recommended by people!
Hope you have a good week

Hi Angela, I did try to get to Mrs D but had the same problem. That looks like an interesting course you're doing. Love the results so far. Look forward to seeing how you get on with the pigments. I'm a bit late getting round today as I got the message this morning that my mum died early this morning but it's a relief for her as she's not been doing too well for some time, she was 95. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x13x
