WOYWW 846

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Sarah's Craftshed and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

I can’t say I have done a great deal this past week.  We had a visit to a local town and I got myself a nice storage unit at a charity shop and some fabric.  I am not exactly sure what I am going to do with the fabric, I had vague ideas about a fabric book.  They are sample pieces and they have a border of paper backing them, which doesn’t seem to be coming off easily.  They are a mix of cotton 25%; viscose 25%; linen 25%; and polyester 25%.   Perhaps Jan or Annie could tell me if I should soak the paper off or bin them?

You can see there is quite a bit of paper left in the upper right picture.

I bought a new craft bag on a trip to Shrewsbury and some wrapping paper that I will be spending hours cutting up!

I have just the last colour study to do which is multicolours as in the rainbow.

Wow, you did well in the charity shop! That storage unit is lovely and so useful, I’d have bought that too. Regarding the fabric sample book, I bet the glue under the paper border would be industrial strength (as the books are heavily used). I don’t think it’ll wash out and any residue might knacker your machine. I’d just cut off the border completely and bin it which I know is unsatisfactory but the only way forward. Good luck!

Have you tried ironing them? It might loosen the glue. They look lovely so I’m sure you will enjoy using them.

Looks like you've been having some fun shopping, love the storage box and the new bag. I'm with Annie, an iron or a heat gun might soften the glue and if they don't then I suspect it's stuck for life but sure you'll find use for it. Happy creative woyww, Angela x11x

I do like that storage unit, very pretty! Hope you can get the paper off the fabric. If not you'll have to cover it with something else! Happy WOYWW Helen #3

Oh love your storage unit, that's a good buy. Well would you know that sackcloth was usually black and made of goat hair! I assumed beige hessian like fabric so thanks for enlightening me. Hugs BJ#7

I love your storage box. Not sure about the glue - maybe try heat on a small part? The joke on eye tests refers to Dominic Cummins, Johnson’s aide, who broke lockdown rules to drive to Barnard Castle allegedly to check his eyesight.
Have a good week,
Hugs
