Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Sarah's Craftshed and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

I know I am incredibly late with my anniversary ATC, but yesterday and Monday I made some.  I tried several different things.  I used my acrylic paint pens and did some collage.  The one that is horizontal is a landscape. I did two abstract ones, but I didn’t think the colours went together so I applied some gesso with a sponge.  I feel they need something else, but not sure what.  I am thinking of using a distress ink.

I tried out some liquid inks.  I added a few drops of into a container and added a little water.  I was just trying to get a background.  I used a sketchbook for the first few and then a mixed media pad. Oddly the sketchbook paper seemed to bear the water better than the mixed media one and I preferred the results. (Top row)

I actually did a colouring page on the IPad in Freeform.  I thought it would be good practice in controlling the stylus pen.

 See you all later !

So I made another mess 🤣. I read that if you wet the paper you are sticking down it won’t buckle.  Perhaps it was too wet because it buckled badly, ruining the page.  Since I was using a colouring book, nothing was really wasted except my time and effort. I decided to cut my losses and tear the page out.  Determined to have something to show today, I did this page yesterday.

I have been following a lettering course with Christie.  It’s something I have had a go at in the past, in that I bought a couple of magazines and some brush pens for lettering.  Far too much practicing involved for me!  I prefer this style:

I have been using the AI image creator again.  I haven’t quite found the right words to get it to obey, I have tried “no people”,  “devoid of people”. and “no one about”, it totally ignores me!  I tried “Christmas card scene of Bethlehem” and it gave me a Nativity in the middle of a crowded city with animals everywhere 🤣🤣.  I kid you not.  I was trying to get a group of houses like those that appear on Christmas cards of Bethlehem.  The idea seems so simple, tell it what to do and hey presto! your image 🤣.

My favourites: Impressionist bird singing; Mixed media bird; Dala Horse

Someone told me I was slow to respond to her messages so I decided to try a whacky image for her.  And then I did a couple more:

Oddly enough AI likes whacky!

Off to link up x

I watched a Seth Apter tutorial and decided I would have a go.  I don't have any sprays in the caravan, which was the only product I didn't have.  He used all distress inks and said it didn't matter if the black ink smudged a little.  When I added the inks it went a little haywire.  I think the surface got a little too wet.  I managed to get back on track, but the smudges annoyed me.  When I have another try I think I will use Stazon for the black.

My work desk!

This started off with some purple paper I had painted a while back, I had already cut it into petal shapes.

This was done in app called Freeform.  I was able to import the background.

I had a go at AI images.  It's not complicated, but tedious as you think what words to use that will get the result.  I tried to do a beach house and despite putting "no plants" "no flowers"  it kept giving me houses covered with plants and flowers!

This beautiful window is in the church in Dumfries.
See you later x

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Sarah's Craftshed and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

I have been taking it easy in our first week of our holidays.

I fussy cut a small mountain of images that I had printed before we left.  Read a book, the first of many I expect.  I have been doing lettering, both hand lettering and

Using a stylus on the IPad, I discovered tools and methods I didn’t know about.

It is a busy time for free courses.  Some have been disappointing, some good, as usual I sign up for everything I think might be interesting.  Considering the room my craft stuff takes up I need to be getting some of it out.  Shopping trip to Tesco yesterday and I bought some lettering pens to try some faux calligraphy and an A4 pad as I left mine at home.  I also bought a nice blue and green mix scarf, considering the amount I have at home I didn't pack even one!
