Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to  Sarah's  (sarahscraftshed.co.uk) and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.  Sarah has taken on the running of WOYWW.  So we have a new place to link up.  I have been having fun (not!) with blogger, first it wouldn't let put a link in and now I have a space it won't let me delete!   Oh well, carry on!

I have been making prayer cards which was one of the sessions in Encounters in Colour.  I have made loads of prayer cards and I wanted to make these a little different.  That probably was my first mistake as I could not get going, I persevered and the result is below.

I have been making a lot of collage backgrounds mostly to be painted over.  I have been using up lots of scraps, and the last two were made with flowery scraps.  I quite like the one above left. The pieces were from a Daphne's Diary magazine.  Normally I use old text and music books and I still have plenty of those left.

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

I have been doing a free course called Encounters in Colour.  These are from the first session:

These are from another session.   Collage backgrounds were made first, I don't normally use flowery scraps for background collages, but in this instant the collage was meant to be seen in the bird shape.  So I was quite happy to use up a lot of flowery bits.  Bird stencils were a free gift, but not having my printer I had to make my own. A single colour was used to paint over the bird stencil and when dry the page decorated.  I used metallic pens with the left one and a white posca and a blue sharpie on the right one.

Still several sessions to catch up on and the Messy May sessions too.

We went to Appleby last week and saw a shop that sells Rock pigments.  the chap said if we had half and hour he would show us how the pigments were made.  It was really interesting and I came away with several small containers of pigment powder and some Gum Arabic.  I need to buy some small containers to keep the mixed paint in so hoping we will come across something suitable.

Looking forward to visiting everyone.

I have been doing some collages using some Flower Fairy pictures that I had cut out from a calendar, years ago.  I also did two of the Get Messy prompts, "Nourishment", below top left and "Enchanted" the one with the apple!

We are travelling tomorrow to a site near Appleby.  I will be round to catch up later.

Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, a day when we link up to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

There are several free challenges going on in May.  I sign up for everything that I think I may be interested in, some end up not being my cup of tea, some I miss out on because they are on zoom and the wrong time zone.   I have been doing an inchies one.   I wanted to use up some distress pens that I have had for ages.  The size of the card I had was just over two inches square, but the circles are two inches.

I am also doing the Get Messy challenge.  The first prompt was “Prologue”. Introduce yourself to your journal!  I had a go at a couple of quick self portraits. I said to me daughter “Nobody would recognise from these”.  She said, yes they would, they were younger versions of me!  I ended up using an outline of me in the page.

I also joined up for the Art and Junk Journal Retreat.  I have watched a few of those.  To be honest, I don’t have much energy at the moment.  Yesterday’s inchie prompt was “Inky”, I used the distress pens on gessoed paper first, sprayed it and pressed the card into it.  Then I used them on an acrylic block, the results were mixed and I was limited in the colours I had.  The card got quite soggy so perhaps a different card is needed or perhaps I used too much water!

I can’t say everything is put away, but the majority is, all ready for the house to be painted. I have got rid of quite a bit of stuff - not craft stuff of course.  I suspect I will get rid of a few more bits when it all comes out of hiding, I am not looking forward to that!  My craft room looks like this:

Obviously no crafting has been done, I shall try and remedy that over the next few months.  There are a lot of free courses going on in May and I am looking forward to trying most of them.

Looking forward to catching up later today x
