It's Wednesday!  Welcome to Crafting With Jack and What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday,  a day when we link up to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a look to see what everyone has been doing.

The image was from Gecko Galz, free for the steampunk challenge, I decided she was a steampunk mermaid!  The fish were altered from a free image and the background is mine.  I have done tree more Gecko Galz images here, here, and here

This is the journal I mentioned last week.  I have almost filled it using the last of the geletos.  Since the geletos are quite waxy I added a layer of light gesso which activates the colour and pulled off a print.  I just thought I would try it.  The ones off the pages were very hit and miss and a couple ripped until I worked out the amount of gesso to water.  The ones off the book pages that I had also used the geletos on were better, possibly due to the darker colour.  Some of the pages came out of the journal - got too wet perhaps?

It was our 49th anniversary Monday and my darling husband bought me two bouquets!!

Safari 3

Definitely will make some more!

Safari post 2

Unfortunately I have to have a separate post for each one.
I love the back ground to this one.

Safari Challenge

Gecko Galz challenge for this month is Safari.  All these images were originally from Gecko Galz, and they are so amazing I could design for days with them.   I hope I can fit in a few more before the end of the month.

I decided to order a new journal for the Journal Petite, I followed a link for the journal’s recommended, but when it arrived it had cream pages, not sure what effect that will have on watercolours.

I read about one staple collages on the ICAD site everything is held together by one staple.  I  made five of them:

I also decided to do some Charles R Macintosh roses out of the blue. So far I have done one:

It's Wednesday!  Welcome to Crafting With Jack and Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday,  a day for linking up to Julia's Stamping Ground and having a blog wander to see what everyone has been doing.

Hardly any sunshine today, which was good for travelling.  We had a nice afternoon and evening with my lovely MIL.

Sometime ago I saw a tutorial on easy mixed media backgrounds and one of them was writing with sharpies in 4 directions and then gesso over the top. Not all the colours have the same properties so it's a bit hit and miss at first.

I used two types of paper (top left).  1-4 are the originals, 1A -4A were after a coat of gesso.  4B I drew with a black sharpie and then added another coat of gesso.  The results were surprising.

With these I did patterns followed by gesso, not being overly impressed I used 2 of them for backgrounds and used my favourite two as they were.  3 others make my total of 7 ICADS for this week.

I have signed up for Journalpetite with Alisa Burke.  You can work in a small journal/notebook or you can use loose pages.  I have an A5 book that when the pages are folded in half should fit the bill.

See you later x

It's Wednesday!  Welcome to Crafting With Jack and Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday,  a day for linking up to Julia's Stamping Ground and having a blog wander to see what everyone has been doing.

The weather is changeable and it's been a bit cold and windy this week.  We went to surprise my mother in law on her 91st birthday Friday, had a meal out in the evening to celebrate and came back the next day.

My fragrant worktable this week.  The caravan site owner came around with two bunches of flowers on Monday.  Apparently they had been grown for a wedding, but flowered too soon.  Such a shame for her, but lovely for us.   Can you see Dolly up in the left hand corner :)

I found some inchies, goodness know when they were made. On the opposite side are two made with a Matisse influence.  Well to be honest I did the bottom one of the two first, without checking my Matisse inspiration and discovered what I had done was influenced by one of Tammy's, the lady behind the ICAD challenge (I can still see Matisse in it though)

Remember last week when I said I didn't have any ICADs to show?  Well, when I got my craft stuff out after moving, I found 5 ready to go. So double lot this week.  Using lots of bits and pieces up.

I went to church on Sunday and the hymns were all modern!  I do like a lot of older hymns, but so nice to sing some modern ones.
